i think tuition should be free because kusler states in the last paragraph "more important, free higher education would restore our nation's vaunted" since the america is always saying stuff about that not alot of people go to college they should have free tuition and it'll help the nation's future.
I think that the college should give free tuition because a lot of college student are being in debt. In the article on paragraph 7 it said that "Collective student debt now tops $1 trillion, greater than all credit card combine." I am trying to say that if more people are in debt the harder to pay it back like paying rent, gas, car payment. Also people can lose everything and even there whole career
I believe college should be free because according to paragraph one "state universities and community colleges should offer free tuition tow all students who academically qualify for admission" This means that although it would be free, motivated students would still make their best attempt in order to meet academic requirements
I think that college should give out free tuition because some students are poor and can't pay to go to college. In paragraph 15 " more important free higher education would restore our nation's vaunted but now mostly absent social mobility' this means that when students that are more educated by having to go to college for free they are mostly prepare to be in a social mobile.
I think tuition should be given free because it says in the article "More and more promising students are making the economic calculation that college just isn't worth the price." This alone should be enough because a student could have the most amazing mind in the world, want to go to college but can not because they don't have the funds.
I understand your statement, however I believe college shouldnt be completely free; throughout paragraph 5 it clearly states that many acts have already been passed in order to reduce the price and although students might have a loan or services to pay off it would most likely help them become more responsible and independent; also it would most likely pay off throughout their future careers of bussinesses
I understand your statement however, throughout paragraph 5 it is clearly states that many acts have already made costs cheaper and although students might have a loan or services they must pay off it might help them become more responsible and would probably pay off with their future careers or bussinesses
I disagree, colleges should not offer free tuition because on paragraph 2 it says "college aid relies increasingly on loans that saddle graduates with to much dept and few options once they enter the work force" so its saying that any type of college aid relying on loans leads graduates with to much dept saying that beacuse of the college aids students are becoming more in dept then being helped which is what college aids are to help them but are doing the opposite instead
I think that tuition should not be free for colleges because the article says in Paragraph 10,"He calculated that it would cost the government a hefty $130 billion a year." The government would get this money by raising taxes.Because of this, families will go more into debt before their children even attend a college.Students will not take school seriously because college is free.In Paragraph 15,it says ,"better prepare Americans for their duties of citizenship."How will america's future generations become more advance if students start lacking off in school and some kids won't be prepared for what colleges have in store for them. How is it fair to the students who do take school seriously ?
I think tuition should be free because it states in paragraph 12, that lower-income and middle-income rely on their loans and families for student debt. So basically if your already relying on your parents to pay, then i dont see why it should'nt be free because your already having it to be free.
Going off what Andrea said, i free tuition would have bad results for students for example, students would become less responsible because they wouldn't have to worry about paying tuition, and some students might blow off that money since a vast majority of students drop out within the first two years. Therefore, tuition must not be offered free but be reorganized to help students who truly wish to attend and pass college.
Free tuition will further encourage students to want to go to college. In paragraph five, Kusler has given an example that states, "We've enacted laws from Northwest Ordinance of 1787 and Morrill Act of 1862, which helped create the relatively low-cost state college system...As a result ours was the first society in human history with a broad participation in higher education." This shows how well students reacted when tuition was first lowered. More students were determined to participate in school and they had the mentality of wanting to attend college.
I hear what your saying and It did help "encourage" students however if tuition were to be completely free students wouldn't be independent and if it were free they wouldn't attempt to do their best in order to get scholarships or other helpful resources
Colleges shouldn't give free tuition because the article says, "it would cost the government a hefty $130 billion a year to directly pay the tuition of 6.5 million undergrads". That would mean that our whole nation's taxes would boost up if it was free! Even people who dont know the student will need to pay for their education, so if the student is a slacker, it wouldn't matter you would still have to take money out of your pocket and pay.
I agree that colleges should offer free college tution to students because in the last paragraph it states that "More important, free higher education would restore ... and make sure that smart, ambitious youmg Americans from any side of town can fulfill their dreams" everyone should be offered that chance to attend a college wether you have money or not and if it was free everyone would have this chance.
I paid partly agree with what you are saying because benefits should be given to all determined students that give it their all to get a good education but also if college were to be free to everyone they wouldn't have to work to achieve their goals and be independent or responsible
i disagree on giving the students free tuition on students. the reason why this is my answer is becausew knowing that many student wont give no effort on their studies and would be a waste of time and money. considering the government, it would give out billions of dollars to students that wont even try. in the article as a matter a fact stated that the governmaent would give out billions of dollars to students.some will try but probably more than half of the students will try not only the government will have trouble but the whole country will more taxes for people and more problems for others to face because of ones lack of effort that is why i dissagree on giving free tuition to students.
